Construction Division

Most of our completed and current construction projects are percentage rate contract, where the bid is a percentage of proposed costs. In a typical project, we are responsible for procurement of raw materials, fuels and equipments and construction.
The key construction projects awarded to us are described below:




Sapli
Our construction division was started in December 2005 to engage in irrigation civil construction works in Maharashtra. We are proficient in construction of masonry ams, earthen dams, canals, tunnels and other related works. We take up projects by Irrigation Corporations of Government of Maharashtra through the tendered bidding process. Within first year of operation, we have been registered as Class I Contractor with Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (Without Limits) and Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation (Limit Rs. 2600 Lacs).
We have completed two irrigation construction projects so far and are currently working on two large projects requiring construction of earthen and masonry dams. Our construction business has grown at CAGR of 139% from Rs. 10.97 Crores in 2005- 2006 to Rs. 26.27 Crores in 2006-2007. As of October 2007, we have an order book of Rs. 252 Crores. The company is promoted by Aurangabad based reputed Padmakar Mulay Group, which has over 35 years of experience in Construction and Agriculture related businesses.

Urmodi
The Urmodi project by Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) aims at construction of earthen dam across Urmodi river near village Parali in Satara district, which is about 20 kms from Satara city. The proposed dam will be main supplier of water for irrigation in Khatav and main taluka. The stored water in this dam is proposed to be released first in Kanher left bank canal through deep cut and tunnel and then in Arphal canal. Then through various tunnel the water will taken to Khatav and main taluka for irrigation purposes.
The major components of this project include:

  • Construction of Earthen dam with height 48.50 m, length 1871.60 m and storage capacity of 9.964 TMC(thousand million cubic meters)
  • Construction of gated side spillway on left flank 57 m long.

On December 19, 2007, this project was awarded to MBL-Amit Constructions joint venture (Principal Contractor) by MKVDC at tendered cost of Rs. 72.41 Crores, which further increased to Rs. 143.95(including escalation) by 31 December, 2005. On this date, the principal contractor entered into an agreement with GIACL for execution of remaining project work. Project work of Rs. 84.28 Crores had already been completed by the principal contractors hence leaving balance work of amount Rs. 59.67 Crores for GIACL. The project is still in progress and is expected to be completed by June, 2009. By March, 2007, GIACL had received an amount of Rs. 29.97 Crores.

Sina Kolegaon
Sina Kolegaon Project by MKVDC envisages construction of masonry dam and spillway across rive Sina near Village Rosa in District Osmanabad. The proposed dam will be used for irrigating area of 6800 Hectares in Paranda and 3400 Hectares in Karmala, thus total area under irrigation through proposed dam is 10200 hectors.
Major components of this project include:

  • Masonry dam of length 395 m having overflow section for spillway in river gorge for 312m in length. Left side NOF is 23 m. Storage capacity of proposed dam is 3.185 TMC.
  • Gated spillway with discharge capacity of 17370 cum.

On December 19, 2007, this project was awarded to MBL-Amit Constructions joint venture (Principal Contractor) by MKVDC at tendered cost of Rs. 72.41 Crores, which further increased to Rs. 143.95(including escalation) by 31 December, 2005. Kalmodi
This project by MKVDC envisages construction of masonry storage dam across river Arala, a right bank tributary of Bhima river in Krishna basin at Kalmodi, district Pune. The project aims at irrigating about 5500 Hectares of land area of satgaon pathar in Ambegaon and Khed Taluka through construction of dam, rising mains and pumphouse etc.
Major components of this project include:

  • Masonry dam 40 m highted, ungated masonry dam with overflow and non overflow sections, head regulator, coffer dam and appurtenant works. Storage capacity of proposed dam is 1.514 TMC.

On April 27, 2000, this project was awarded to MBL (Principal Contractor) by MKVDC. The tender was award to this joint venture at tendered cost of Rs. 23.01 Crores which further increased to Rs. 23.57 Crores (excluding escalation) by 31 December, 2005. On this date, the principal contractor entered into an agreement with GIACL for execution of remaining project work. Project work of Rs. 3.94 Crores had been completed by the principal contractors hence leaving balance work of amount Rs. 19.63 Crores (excluding escalation) for GIACL.
The project is still in progress and is expected to be completed by June, 2009. By March, 2007, GIACL had received an amount of Rs. 7.68 Crores.
